Aim of the course

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR) prevents anyone from removing Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) without the correct training. The effects of asbestos fibres may not appear until years after the initial inhalation, however, Asbestosis (the disease that occurs from inhaling disturbed asbestos) is responsible for around 4000 deaths a year.

Due to the extensive risks that can occur when exposed to Asbestos, our 1 day Non-Licensable work with asbestos course (CAT B) helps delegates understand the risks associated with the Non licensable ACM’s so they can avoid disturbing the fibres whilst at work. Additionally, if the delegate does not hold a CAT A UKATA Asbestos Awareness qualification, this course will need to be extended to 1 ½ days, as the CAT A qualification is required to undertake the CAT B Non-licensable work with Asbestos course.

Course content

The UKATA accredited Non-licensable  work with asbestos course covers everything the delegate will need to know to safely undertake work on non-licensed ACM’s and will cover both theoretical and practical elements to the handling of the materials. The course will cover the following:

  • The difference between Licensable and Non-Licensable work & NNLW
  • Risk Assessment & Plans of Work
  • PPE, RPE, Equipment section & Maintenance
  • Control measures & removal methods
  • The disposal & carriage of asbestos waste
  • Emergency procedures

Who should take this course?
