Working within a petrol forecourt presents many risks, which stem from fuel storage, vehicle movement, hazardous substances, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, electricity, fire risks, compressed air systems etc. and the risks that are associated with these can affect the lives of the employees and customers.
Due to the extensive risks that can stem from a petrol forecourt, it is important for forecourt staff, and more importantly the appointed person e.g. manager to fully understand the risks and implications that can occur when performing the day to day tasks on a petrol forecourt.
The Competent Person course is designed to provide the delegates with a basic knowledge of the risks that can occur when performing the tasks in their roles at the petrol forecourt, with a focus on fuel deliveries. The 1 day course will also give an overview of how to perform certain tasks safely with guidance on procedures for emergencies. The course will cover the following:
This course has been developed for any appointed person that has the responsibility of receiving fuel deliveries and the general management of fuel duties. Although there is a focus on petrol forecourt staff to take this course, it is also suitable for delegates who work in industries such as car manufacturing, logistics, marina etc.
To undertake this course, there is no preparation needed, however, it would be useful for the delegate to have some experience in supervised fuel deliveries (although not essential). All successful delegates will receive a TTS Certificate.
