Asbestos Removal Operative and Supervisor Training

After many years of training surveyors, analysts and building managers Tersus Consultancy Ltd. now offer that same high standard of training for those who remove, or supervise the removal of asbestos-containing materials.

Training for New Operatives (3 days) and New Supervisors (3 days) can be provided at a suitable facility near your workplace based upon a sufficient number of course attendants being available.

Operative Refreseher (1 day) and Supervisor Refresher (1 day) training again can be provided at a suitable facility near your workplace, based upon a sufficient number of attendants being available, or at our dedicated training centre in Rainham in Essex. 

Tersus only train small group numbers which means much greater interaction and attention to training needs when compared to being part of a 'standard course' offered by other training providers.

In addition, courses can also be developed to incoporate a company's specifc procedures - thus avoiding confusion.

HSE Launch 'Hidden Killer' Campaign

November 2009 sees the HSE launch of its 'Hidden Killer' campaign. This follows the success of a similar campaign run earlier in the year derived in part by the use of of radio segments which relate real life stories of tradesmen that have been affected by exposure to asbestos.

Supported by leaflets and guidance the campagn hopes to bring to a halt the still rising number of deaths within the UK due to expsoure to asbestos within buidlings.

TERSUS delivers UKATA regsitered Asbestos Awareness Training courses countrywide to tradesman, supervisors and managers alike. The course is designed to raise the understanding of the use and of the threat possed by asbestos in buildings and thus to help protect building occupants and workers. 

In addition TERSUS Consultancy Ltd. offers asbestos testing and surveying services through their UK wide network of offices.

HSE/BOHS Asbestos Roadshow 2009

In the last few months the HSE and BOHS have been jointly hosting the 'Asbestos Roadshow' throughout the UK. These seminars were held to give an insight into the main requirements within the new Guidance document 'Asbestos: The Survey Guide' which is expected to be published later this summer to replace the current MDHS 100 publication 'Surveying, sampling and assessment of asbestos-containing materials'.

Selected guest speakers from the HSE and from within the asbestos consultancy industry focused on the need for Duty Holders to instruct competent surveyors, and surveying companies, to carry out asbestos surveys. This is not only to ensure compliance with Legislation, but also to avoid uneccesarry exposures and/or legal costs that may arise from sub-standard asbestos surveys - several examples were cited.

As well as being UKAS accredited to conduct asbestos surveys, Tersus surveyors are regulary audited and undergo refresher training to ensure that they maintain the required high level of skills and competence to conduct this critical work on behalf of Duty Holders throughout the UK.
